Financial Controller

Location: Paramaribo, Suriname

Description

As a Financial Controller, you play a key role in ensuring the financial health, compliance, and strategic support of Simextra Group. You oversee accounting operations, reporting, budgeting, and internal controls, ensuring that financial processes run smoothly, efficiently, and accurately. You work closely with management to provide reliable data for decision-making and contribute to continuous improvement in financial performance and governance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Economics
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a similar financial role, preferably in a corporate environment
  • Strong knowledge of IFRS/local GAAP, tax regulations, and financial compliance
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience with accounting software (e.g., Exact, QuickBooks, or similar)
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills
  • Fluent in Dutch and English, both spoken and written
  • High level of integrity, discretion, and attention to detail
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Able to work independently and manage multiple priorities

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and management reports
  • Monitor financial performance against budgets and forecasts; identify variances and provide analysis
  • Lead the budgeting and forecasting process in coordination with all departments
  • Ensure compliance with local tax regulations, accounting standards, and company policies
  • Supervise daily accounting operations, including general ledger, payables, receivables, and payroll
  • Manage internal controls and help develop and implement financial procedures
  • Coordinate year-end audits and liaise with external auditors and tax advisors
  • Provide financial insights and support for business cases, investment projects, and strategic decisions
  • Work closely with the Finance Manager and executive team to optimize financial planning
  • Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting to stakeholders
